Filmed in Paris and the glorious French countryside, Things to Come focuses upon Nathalie, a middle-aged teacher of philosophy who is academically, socially and economically successful. Then the taken-for-granted bedrock of marriage, family, employment and high regard start to crumble. Will Nathalie stay true to values and principles held for years or abandon them in the face of what life throws at her out of the blue? Directed by Mia Hansen Love (Father of My Children) and starring Isabelle Huppert in “a note-perfect warm and wry performance” (Mark Kermode, Observer), Things to Come, which has won many awards for best actor, best director and best foreign film at Film Festivals around the world, is “stylish, elegant, measured, held together with a thread of exquisitely reticent sadness” (Peter Bradshaw, Guardian).
