Come along and experience the warm community atmosphere of our film nights at the Maleny Community Centre, 23 Maple St, in the heart of Maleny. We offer the best in cinema from around the world, presented with a high-quality digital projector (DCinema) and quality sound equipment.
Film nights are held on Saturday nights on an approximately fortnightly basis, depending on our program. We also hold occasional matinees and additional screenings for special events and collaborations with other Maleny community groups.
Matinees: Doors open 1/2 and hour prior to start time for tea/coffee and slices. Check starting times on Program. The time varies according to the time of year.
Evenings: Doors Open at 6:30 for Tea and coffee service, the screening starts at 7 pm
Members-Only Screenings (MOS)
On the 1st Wednesday of each month, and sometimes on a Sunday matinee timeslot, Members are treated to a film in the Verandah Room at the back of the Maleny Community Centre. It is a wonderful night to mix with members and learn a little more about the film from the short presentation prior to each screening. Members-only film reminders are sent out around a week prior to the screening. The curated program sometimes features a series from a particular genre or classic film director. Become a member to take advantage of these events.

Our films are screened in the Main Hall of the recently renovated Maleny Community Centre complex. Located in the heart of Maleny, the Community Centre is the cultural hub of the Hinterland. The Hall has the capacity to seat 220 people in theatre-style seating and approximately 150 people for meals. The Hall is fully licensed with a commercial kitchen. At the rear of the hall is the Verandah Room, which is used for our Members-Only Screening.
Parking is available behind the Hall accessed via Bicentenary Lane or on Maple Street.
As part of our commitment to provide an enjoyable cinema experience for all, the Maleny Film Society has invested in hearing-impaired headsets for use by our patrons inside the main hall. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Maleny IGA we are able to offer hire of the headsets free of charge. Please see the MFS membership table to arrange the use of the headsets. A security deposit (driver’s license or similar) is required.
Headsets can also be purchased from MFS for those who wish to keep their own set.
