Come along and experience the warm community atmosphere of our film nights at the Maleny Community Centre, 23 Maple St, in the heart of Maleny. We offer the best in cinema from around the world, presented with a high quality digital projector and great sound equipment.
You will also be able to enjoy a delicious meal (at our evening screenings), drinks from the bar, tea, coffee and homemade slices. Film nights are held on Saturday nights on an approximately fortnightly basis, depending on our program. We also hold occasional matinees and additional screenings for special events and collaborations with other Maleny community groups.
At evening screenings the doors open at 6.00pm for ticket sales; for matinee screenings doors open 1/2 an hour prior to the screening time. Tickets cost $8 for MFS members and $13 for general public. Student tickets are priced at $8 (16 years old +) and child tickets (under 16 years old) cost $5.
Drinks, meals and tea and coffee service are available from 6pm – 7pm with the screening commencing at 7.15pm.
Delicious and affordable meals are on offer from local caterers Wild Rocket at Misty’s, or Spaghetti Junction. Main meals range between $16 to $18 and desserts cost between $7 and $7.50. Vegetarian and Gluten Free options are always included. There are 3 main meals to choose from and 2 dessert options. A unique and enjoyable part of dining at our film nights is the opportunity to chat to fellow diners and mingle with locals and visitors to our beautiful town!
Our films are screened in the Main Hall of the recently renovated Maleny Community Centre complex. Located in the heart of Maleny, the Community Centre is the cultural hub of the Hinterland.The Hall has the capacity to seat 220 people in theatre style seating and approximately 150 people for meals. It offers state of the art technology, including lighting and sound equipment and D cinema. The Hall is fully licensed with a commercial kitchen.
Parking is available behind the Hall accessed via Bicentenary Lane or on Maple Street.
Hearing impaired headsets
As part of our commitment to provide an enjoyable cinema experience for all, Maleny Film Society has invested in hearing impaired headsets for use by our patrons. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Maleny IGA we are able to offer hire of the headsets free of charge. Please see the MFS membership table to arrange use of the headsets. A security deposit (drivers license or similar) is required.
Headsets can also be purchased from MFS for those who wish to keep their own set.
