The year is 1965, the place a Western Australian country town simmering with racial tensions. An Aboriginal boy discovers the body of a murder victim. Fearing he will be blamed, he seeks the help of the bookish fourteen-year old Jasper Jones, who bravely sets out to try and solve the crime. Based on the well-loved award-winning novel by Craig Silvey, who helped adapt it for the screen, the film is directed by Rachel Perkins (Bran Nue Day) and the fine cast includes Toni Collette and Hugo Weaving. Our 2017 Celebration of Books feature will have wide appeal.
