Scorsese on the essence of cinema

In 2013 director Martin Scorsese delivered the Jefferson Lecture at the National Endowment of the Humanities. His title was Persistence of Vision: Reading the Language of Cinema. It’s a lucid outline of the fundamentals by someone who has long studied and loved this art form and achieved eminence as a practitioner.
